Clear aligners for teenagers
Private Smartee aligners in Portadown – no waiting list.
Going ahead with treatment? Your £155 assessment fee is deducted. When you choose private treatment after your private assessment, the £155 already paid is taken away from your overall treatment cost. If you use our payment plan, we take it off the £900 deposit, so your deposit is £745 and the monthly amounts do not change. Cross-border (HSE) patients are not included.
Many teenagers prefer straightening their teeth with Smartee aligners: clear, removable trays made for their teeth, with no brackets or wires. We provide them as private treatment, whether or not your teenager qualified for the health service (NHS). You will not join a waiting list.
Prices for teenagers
| Assessment (private) | £155 |
|---|---|
| Super mild | from £2,900 |
| Moderate | from £3,900 |
| Complex | from £4,900 |
The price of Smartee aligners matches metal braces. Until your teenager turns 18, our offer for under-18s brings the price to £2,900 (normally £3,900). If a brother, sister or parent is already a patient, have a look at our sibling or parent offer. Full price list: costs.
Paying monthly
Start with a £900 deposit and pay the remainder over 12 months. A £150 plan fee is added to the remaining balance and divided across your 12 monthly payments – on a £2,900 treatment that works out at £179.17 a month, £3,050 altogether.
Treatment time and timing
Expect anything from 2 to 24 months, depending on how complex the case is; milder cases are often quite straightforward. Ages 12 to 14 are usually ideal for starting, as most adult teeth are through by then.
Making aligners work
- Keep the aligners in for 20 to 22 hours every day, nights included – teeth only move while they are being worn.
- Follow the 30-minute rule: they should never be out of your mouth for longer than 30 minutes at a time.
- Remove them for meals and for any drink other than plain water, and brush before they go back in.
- When treatment ends, retainers are worn every night (8 to 10 hours), for life. Find out more about retainers.
Wondering whether aligners or a fixed brace is the better fit? Ask your clinician during your appointment. Everything depends on a satisfactory assessment, and aligners are not suitable for everyone.
Invisalign is also available here, at £1,000 more per band (from £3,900, £4,900 or £5,900).
